INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.

Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed David Dozier who is a leading media authority.

On a recent Price of Business show, Host Kevin Price interviewed Dr. David Dozier. He’s a professor emeritus in the journalism school at San Diego State University. They discussed three recent efforts by President Trump in his two-pronged war on free speech and the First Amendment. The first front uses the power of the government to suppress news content he dislikes. The second front uses tax dollars to originate news and propaganda from the White House as alternative news content. These are the most recent episodes in Trump’s decade-long efforts to force the news media to portray Trump as he likes to see himself. In April, Trump appointees at the FCC ordered unprecedented early license reviews of the eight TV stations owned and operated (O&O) by ABC. Trump dislikes ABC because late-night comics make jokes at his expense. In August, ABC sued the FCC in federal court to stop what ABC described as “blatant retaliation for [its] First Amendment speech.” ABC continues to press for relief in federal court. However, the FCC efforts to take away ABC’s licenses continue unabated. On Sept. 18, Trump banned CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House grounds. He specifically said it was due to news content he disliked. The news media sued. A federal judge ordered Trump to stop. Since the order, Trump has barred CNN access on three separate occasions. On Sept. 19, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) transferred $20 million designated for homeland security to purchase Trump campaign-style TV ads. The ads say “Paid for by the U.S. Government.” On Sept. 21, Trump launched a 24/7 news channel on YouTube: “Trump TV: The Essentials Station.” The content is mostly a patchwork of old Trump speeches. Taken together, these actions point to an autocrat’s efforts to “control the narrative” by suppressing critical news coverage and replacing it with Trump propaganda (see www.DavidDozierBooks.com and www.linkedin.com/in/david-dozier-576b684/).
