VIDEO: The Case for the News Media to Publicly Air Its Dirty Laundry
The nationally syndicated Price of Business show has had a long running video series on YouTube providing a panoramic overview of its best articles, interviews and other content. These promotional videos showcased the content from the Price of Business Digital Network newsletter, Read Instead (make sure to click to subscribe to this weekly newsletter with the best of our content).
We have taken a turn in the series where we now showcase entire interviews that we consider among the best from our radio program.
These interviews are complete and the viewer will not have to go elsewhere to watch or listen to it.
The next in this series is Price of Business show Host, Kevin Price and media authority, David Dozier, discussing a scandal that rocked the LA Times.
According to a statement, “Price and Dozier look at the extraordinary story by the Los Angeles Times about its own editorial nefariousness. “In July, the Los Angeles Times published a front-page story about ongoing scandals at the University of Southern California. These include the former dean of the medical school partying with dangerous drugs, including crystal. One partygoer died; USC covered it up. But the really interesting nugget was the exposé of the Times own role in the coverup. Two Times investigative reporters on the story worked in secret. That’s because two editors at the Times tried to assist in the coverup. The Times exposed all of this in its front-page story. This is similar to the May 2004 mea culpa in the New York Times regarding that newspaper’s shoddy coverage leading up to the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Such articles occur way too infrequently. We argue that news organizations need to routinely report on their own failings. News organizations air the dirty laundry of others. They should demand the same transparency of themselves that they demand from the organizations and institutions they cover (www.DavidDozierBooks.com).
