Meet Prince Harry, the Rebel Prince
Who is Prince Harry? The younger son of Charles Prince of Wales and Diana Princess of Wales, the Prince of Sussex is the sixth in line to the British throne. Aside from his royal family ties, the young prince is known for his charitable causes. However, he has made quite an impact on the world as a person. His responsibilities as a royal are extensive, and much of the world is enamored with him and his family.
As a child, Prince Harry had a difficult time adjusting to his new environment. The book, William & Harry chronicled his difficulties in school. Despite his adolescent struggles, he maintained a cheerful disposition throughout his childhood and grew interested in the military as he matured. Ingrid Seward, Harry’s future stepmother, told People magazine that Harry’s devotion to the military led to his interest in the armed forces.
Born on September 15, 1984, Prince Harry is the second son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. He is the sixt in line to the British throne. He studied at Eton College and excelled in sports such as polo and rugby. During his gap year, he traveled the world and volunteered with orphans in Lesotho. After graduating from school, he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhust in England, and later went on to serve in Afghanistan as part of the British Army. He was a trained military helicopter pilot, and his wife Meghan Markle, a television presenter.
As a former British soldier, Harry also became involved in charity work. The Invictus Games were a chance for wounded veterans to compete in sports and earn medals. The Invictus Games began in 2014 as an annual event. In 2020, they were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, the royal couple continues to support the charity. The games were finally able to resume in April of 2022.
The prince began dating actress Meghan Markle. The two first met in the Invictus Games in Toronto, where the series Suits is filmed, in which Markle was an actress. In November 2016, the palace announced the couple’s relationship, but the couple requested privacy. Meghan Markle, however, was the target of alleged racist and paparazzi attacks on social media and — according to her and Harry — had been harassed by photographers for a year.
As the Prince of Wales, Harry had begun taking on more formal royal duties, including making official visits to various countries. He became the Commonwealth Youth Ambassador. He once said that it was refreshing to fall in love with someone outside of the palace. He is now married to actress Meghan Markle and they have two children (Archie and Lilibet).
During his childhood, Prince Harry attended private schools before attending Eton College. He volunteered for overseas missions and fought two tours of duty in Afghanistan. However, he has continued to work to help servicemen and their families and is actively promoting support for wounded soldiers. Having spent ten years in the military, it’s no surprise that he is involved in charities promoting the care of injured servicemen and veterans. The Prince also served as an Apache helicopter pilot in the Army Air Corps. In April 2006, he was commissioned as a soldier. He has also appeared in public in the media as a royal and has a deep concern for the welfare of his fellow servicemen.
After years of tension between Harry and his wife versus the rest of the Royal family, he split with them with enormous acrimony. In February of 2021, Harry and Meghan made final split with British royal family, telling Queen Elizabeth that they would not be coming back. Since then he has devoted himself to projects in the United States, including creating a career making programs for Netflix.
