INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.

Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed David Dozier who is a leading media authority.

On a recent Price of Business show, Host Kevin Price interviewed Dr. David Dozier. He’s professor emeritus of journalism at San Diego State. They discussed the launch of a new official White House portal that exposes “misleading” and “biased” news about President Trump. The portal heaps scorn on a “Media Offender of the Week.” On a story-by-story basis, it lists offending news outlets and reporters. It classifies such offenses as (1) bias, (2) omission of context and (3) lies. Taxpayers pay government employees to update content. In addition, Trump wants volunteers to “submit a tip.” The portal enlists MAGA news sleuths to hunt down news “bias” and send links of offending news content to the White House. Thus, Trump uses crowdsourcing to help provide fresh content for his propaganda machine. To date, the portal does not cite bias or lies on rightwing news outlets, such as Fox News, Breitbart and Newsmax. So, operationally, “bias” is content that puts Trump’s administration in a bad light—even when such news is factually accurate. The portal is one more weapon in his arsenal for ongoing partisan attacks on the news media. The portal’s implicit goal is to confuse Americans about what’s fact and what’s fiction (propaganda). Facts undermine authoritarian lies. In Nazi Germany, according to the Holocaust Encyclopedia, censoring press freedom meant (1) closing or taking over anti-Nazi news organizations, (2) controlling all news content and (3) banning books that Nazis considered “un-German.” President Trump and his MAGA acolytes follow the same authoritarian playbook (see www.DavidDozierBooks.com and www.linkedin.com/in/david-dozier-576b684/).
